Board President's Book Sales to Benefit Michigan CASA
Michigan CASA's own Dan Babin is a man of many talents. We already know and love him as our Board President, but did you know he is a published author? His new book "It Shouldn't Hurt to be Child," has just been released and is now available on Ebay!
Dan outlines his goals for the book in his own words.
"While all of the proceeds from this expose on the state of child neglect and abuse in our country go directly to the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) 501 C (3) volunteer organization, my greater hope is that through this book's courageous and factual confrontation of the realities, barriers and potential solutions to this heart-wrenching and untenable problem, the reader will be motivated to take the actions outlined in the book."

National CASA Selects Michigan CASA for Governance Excellence Pilot Program
Your Michigan CASA Board will be working even harder than usual this year! To help further the mission of serving as many children in need of advocacy as possible, Executive Director Patty Sabin requested a grant to strengthen governance by the State Board. Michigan CASA was one of only 16 programs selected nationwide.
Kristi Jeffrey, Board Member and Chair of the Board Development Committee, will attend several workshops at the National Conference in Seattle to get the pilot program underway.
In the second phase of the program, all Board Members will participate in several activities designed to strengthen their effectiveness in promoting CASA such as:
• A board self-assessment
• A full day in-person retreat
• Two 60 minute webinars
• Development and implementation of action plan
• Consultation, coaching and support throughout the year
• Assessment following participation
BoardSource, a nationally recognized leader in board development, will be facilitating the program.
If you see a Michigan CASA Board Member, please say thank you for his/her willingness to participate and build a strong Michigan program!
